# Introduction to Deep Links
### What are Deep Links?
A deep link is a single URL that takes a person straight to a specific page in the Raptor Control Panel, on a specific account. Instead of asking a colleague to log in, switch to the right account, open Data Management and find the Black Friday dataflow, you send them one link and they land exactly there.
π **Use case:** Deep links are useful in e-mails, support tickets, internal wikis, Jira issues, or anywhere else you want to point someone to a particular part of the Control Panel.

### Prerequisites
- A Control Panel user with access to the account and module you want to link to.
- The recipient also needs their own Control Panel user with access to that account and module. A deep link does not share access.
### Key terms
**Module**: A part of the Control Panel, such as Data Management, Audience Builder or User Management. Each module has a short key, for example `dtmn` for Data Management.
**Account ID**: The number that identifies an account. You can see it in brackets next to the account name in the account selector.
**Page**: The specific view inside a module, such as a list, a single dataflow or a create form.
### How to share the page you are on
1. Open the page you want to share, on the account you want to share it for.
2. Click the **link icon** in the top bar, next to the account selector. Its tooltip reads **Copy share link**.Β
3. A **Link copied** message confirms that the link is on your clipboard.
4. Paste the link wherever you need it.
The link opens the same page you are looking at, on the account that is currently selected.
π **Note**: The link icon only appears when you are inside a module. If you see **Couldn't copy the link**, your browser blocked access to the clipboard. Try again, or allow clipboard access for the Control Panel in your browser settings.
### What happens when someone opens the link
1. If the recipient is not signed in, they are asked to sign in first and are then taken on to the page in the link.
2. The Control Panel switches to the account in the link, so there is no need to change account manually.
3. The page opens with the normal menu and account selector around it.
π **Note**: Deep links do not expire. They can be reused and bookmarked.
β οΈ **Warning**: A few modules cannot be opened on an inner page from the outside. They open on their own start page instead, so click your link once before sending it on.
π **Use case**: A merchandiser spots an issue with a dataflow on the Webshop account. They open the dataflow, copy its link and paste it into a Jira issue, so the developer lands on the right dataflow on the right account in one click.

### When a link does not work
If something is wrong with the link, the recipient sees one of two pages instead:
- **"We're sorry! You don't have access to this page..."**: The recipient's user does not have access to the account in the link, or the module is not available on that account. Check their permissions under **Administration** \> **User Management**.
- **"Oops! We looked everywhere..."**: The link is incomplete or has been edited. Copy it again with the link icon.
π **Note**: A module that the account has not purchased still opens, and shows the recipient that it is not active on the account.
### How to build a link by hand
Most people never need to do this. It is useful when you want a link without opening the page first, for example in an e-mail template or a wiki page.
Every deep link follows this pattern:

https://controlpanel.raptorsmartadvisor.com/rdr/{module}/{account}?url={page}
```
- **{module}**: The module key from the table below, for example `dtmn`.
- **{account}**: The account ID.
- **?url={page}**: The page inside the module. This part is optional. Leave it out to open the module's start page.

**πNote**: The page part can be written with plain slashes (`/schema`) or URL-encoded (`%2Fschema`). Both work.
For a single record or a create form, such as one specific dataflow, open it once and copy its link with the link icon. The page part is then filled in for you.
